Reviewer Guidelines
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the HIREFREN Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. The following guidelines are intended to assist reviewers in conducting thorough and constructive evaluations.
Before Reviewing:
· Confirm that you have the expertise to evaluate the manuscript. If not, decline the invitation.
· Declare any conflicts of interest that might compromise your objectivity.
· Familiarize yourself with the journal’s scope and editorial policies.
During Review:
· Read the manuscript carefully and thoroughly. A thorough review may require multiple readings.
· Evaluate the manuscript against the journal’s stated criteria: originality, significance, methodological rigour, clarity, and engagement with literature.
· Provide specific, evidence-based comments that help the authors improve their work. Avoid vague or dismissive criticism.
· Distinguish between major issues (which affect the validity or significance of the findings) and minor issues (which relate to presentation or style).
· Be respectful and professional in your tone. Remember that behind every manuscript are real people engaged in scholarly work.
· Do not use the manuscript or any information contained within it for your own advantage or to disadvantage others.
· Do not share the manuscript with others without the editor’s permission
Artificial Intelligence:
Reviewers must not use generative AI tools to generate substantive review content. AI may be used for minor language polishing, but all evaluative judgments, criticisms, and recommendations must be the reviewer’s own. Any use of AI must be disclosed to the editor.
After Review:
· Submit your review within the agreed timeframe. If you cannot meet the deadline, inform the editorial office promptly.
· Provide a clear recommendation (accept, minor revisions, major revisions, reject) along with your justification.
· Be available for follow-up queries regarding your review, including evaluation of revised manuscripts where appropriate.
Reviewers who complete two or more high-quality reviews within a calendar year may be eligible for benefits such as an APC waiver for their own submissions, as determined by the journal’s editorial board.
